A little bit more about me…
Growing up as an aspiring ballerina, I had the honor of attending, training and teaching at many elite dance programs in New York State, Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina and New York City. My love of ballet, dance and performing arts unveiled my ability to confidently and creatively express myself at a very young age. It not only set the tone for my career as an entrepreneur, but it allowed me to find a way to marry my three passions: dance, business and event planning – the ultimate EB “I DO”!
What started out as a summer job at age 16 at the Crooked Lake House (now known as the “Old Daley”) turned into an assistant event coordinator role, exposing me to everything from catering to working directly with clients and vendors. As a senior in high school, I packed my bags and headed to NYC to attend the Talent Unlimited Performing Arts School on the Upper East Side. After doing a little bit of everything – in true Courtney style – I realized it was time to pursue my dream of being my own boss. Allowing my entrepreneurial spirit to shine bright, I attended Mercy College in NYC, and completed a degree in Business Management with a Specialization in Marketing.
Before completing my college degree and starting Events Beyond, I also freelanced in a creative role working on “TODAY Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding”. Shortly after this project, I landed my dream job with the lifestyle guru and businesswoman herself, Martha Stewart! Thrilled to become a full-time employee at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO), I worked in consumer marketing on the customer relations team, where I was able to strike the perfect balance of being creative and business savvy at the same time.
Working for this Fortune 500 company for nearly five years was an invaluable experience, one that I've been able to bring to my own business and clients. Throughout the years, I continued to freelance at Martha Stewart Living and assisted with large-scale corporate and consumer-facing events, including Martha Stewart American Made.
My keen eye for detail, love of people and commitment to my clients have been the pillars of success behind Events Beyond. Speaker at the Special Event Show (TSE) and host at various industry networking events in New York City, I regularly share my signature style, approach and insights with the events industry at large and reinforce my passion for collaboration and continuous learning amongst my peers. Looking back on my 20+ years of experience in dance and performing arts, it’s been magical to see the direct influence it has had on my business today. My passion for beauty and attention to detail alongside my extensive experience and career at MSLO are what’s culminated to make Events Beyond what it is today.
I currently live in Astoria, a distinct neighborhood in New York City with my husband Ben. In our spare time, we enjoy exploring the city for coffee shops, craft beer breweries (with gluten-free cider, of course!), wine bars and farmer's markets. When I’m not in the kitchen whipping up gourmet gluten-free meals or entertaining friends, you can find us trolling new restaurants in the area, swooning at the New York City Ballet or attending broadway shows.
